Riding motorbikes in the winter?
Last winter I rode my bike all winter, to work and back (which is about 70km a day) and sustained minimal damage to it through diligent care, but im wondering about the long term affects of riding a bike like mine every winter. Some rust around bolts has appeared, and im wondering if anyone else rides a cruiser in the winter? What kind of long term damage am I looking at? Is it worth it to buy a older bike for the worst months of the year? Bearing in mind that I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and we have the mildest winters of Canada.

Watch that rust around the bolts. It loves to slowly spread.
Aluminum corrodes due to salt and dissimilar metals.
Basically, anything that will rust or corrode will do it ten times faster in winter. Frequent oil changes and bearing maintenance are required. Belt drives typically have aluminum rear pulleys and can be damaged by sand and salt.
